Dragonair Youth Aviation Academy – Aviation Certificate Programme

Nurturing Young Talents

The Dragonair Youth Aviation Academy took off in 2011. Its aim is simple: to inspire Hong Kong’s young people to learn about the world of aviation and to get them to think seriously about choosing to pursue a career in the industry.

An integral part of the Academy is the Aviation Certificate Programme, a unique educational initiative organised by Dragonair in conjunction with Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps.

Comprehensive Exposure

Aimed at nurturing future talents for the aviation industry, the Programme offers a series of extraordinary experiences through which participants are able to gain in-depth understanding of the exciting aviation world.

Once chosen, each participant will be guided by a Dragonair pilot mentor through the eight-month journey. The mentor will provide personal guidance and inspiration throughout the programme.

Participants will also be given an invaluable opportunity to attend lectures and training sessions at Dragonair’s Corporate Safety & Quality Department and Inflight Services Division as well as briefings and facility visits organised by various aviation organisations. Even seasoned aviation professionals seldom have such opportunity to visit and learn from experts in such a wide spectrum of the industry.

A Path to an Aviation Career

Since the launch, 90 participants have graduated and approximately 30% of them have already embarked a career in the aviation industry, including working as air traffic controllers, aircraft engineers, flight attendants and pilots for Dragonair as well as sister airline Cathay Pacific.
