1. What is the free baggage allowance for my checked baggage, and how is the allowance calculated?

Depending on your route, your baggage allowance may be calculated by piece or weight.

On routes that include stops in the USA or Canada, your baggage allowance will be calculated by piece. You will be able to bring a fixed number of items, each of which must weigh under a certain weight.

For all other routes, your baggage will be calculated by weight. You will be allowed to take any number of items with a combined total weight under an amount determined by your route, class and member tier.

2. Is there extra free baggage allowance if I am travelling with an infant?

On routes that include stops in the USA or Canada:
For First and Business class passengers who are travelling with an infant, they are permitted one extra piece of checked baggage 32 kg (70 lbs) with total dimensions (length + width + height) not exceeding 115 cm (45”).

For Economy class passengers who are travelling with an infant, they are permitted one extra piece of checked baggage 23 kg (50 lbs) with total dimensions (length + width + height) not exceeding 115 cm (45”).

For all other routes:
Customers who are travelling with an infant are permitted one extra piece of checked baggage up to 10 kg (22 lb) that does not exceed 115cm (45”) in dimension.

3. Is there extra free baggage allowance for sporting equipment?

There is no extra free baggage allowance for the carriage of sporting equipment, but it can still be carried as part of your free checked baggage allowance.

4. Is there free baggage allowance for pets?

No. Your pets can only be transported as Cargo.

Animals such as dogs, cats, household birds and any other pets cannot be accepted as checked baggage on any Dragonair operated flights. Click here to view the details.

5. Is there free baggage allowance for mobility aids or assistive devices?

Mobility aids and assistive devices can be accepted without charge in addition to the baggage allowance, provided that the equipment is necessary for the journey. Click here to view the details.

6. What happens if I am travelling with an extra or overweight baggage?

Baggage in excess of the free baggage allowance will incur extra charges. Extra baggage rate is calculated by weight or piece depending on the zone of the destination. Click here to view the details.

7. Can I redeem my Asia Miles for extra baggage allowances?

Yes, you can save on extra baggage costs by redeeming your Asia Miles for an extra baggage allowance. The number of Asia Miles required depends on your travel distance. Please contact us at our service hotline at least 10 working days before your flight departure. 8. When and where can I pay the extra baggage charge?

Your baggage will be weighed at check-in and you will be able to pay extra charge there, if required. If you believe your baggage may exceed your base allowance, please allow for additional time and cost at check-in on the day of your flight.
