1. Who can apply as a Cadet Pilot?

You are welcome to apply if you meet the following requirements:

• Hong Kong Permanent Residents
• Minimum height of 1.60 metres
• Excellent command of English including both oral and written skills
• Good command of Chinese language is an added advantage
• Medically fit (including eye-sight)
• 5 passes in HKCEE or O-Level equivalent, including Grade C or above in English Language, Mathematics and Physics, together with 2 passes in HKALE / A-Level (science subjects preferred) or equivalent qualifications obtained overseas

3. What is the retirement age for pilots?

We offer a full career to the age of 60 years.

4. Will the selection process take place in Hong Kong?

The selection process for the Cadet Pilot Programme will take place in Hong Kong. Overseas applicants are responsible for arranging their own travel and accommodation to attend the interview in Hong Kong.

Successful flight crew applicants will be invited to attend an interview at selected foreign countries or in Hong Kong. Candidates are responsible for all related expenses.

5. I hold a foreign flying licence. Will I need to convert it to a Hong Kong licence?

The Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department will provide licence conversion terms to all successful applicants.

6. What are the career prospects for flight crew at Dragonair ?

Qualified Flight Crew may proceed to the rank of Training Captain and / or Check Captain. There are opportunities for Captains to advance into Management as well. Members from all ranks are also given the opportunity to take part in various projects.

Besides the sophisticated training and routine refresher courses that Flight Crew receive to stay informed with the latest technology, we also run a variety of courses to help Flight Crew develop different skills both professionally and personally.

7. How do I know if my application is successful or not?

Short-listed Cadet Pilot applicants will be notified within three weeks of their applications from the closing date as advertised.

Flight crew applicants are encouraged to send update details on flying hours to Crew Resources Department. Short-listed applicants will normally be notified within three months of their applications.
