The Livery Design on Dragonair's 25th Anniversary Aircraft

Dragonair’s 25th Anniversary Livery

Dragonair created a special livery for an A330-300 aircraft in celebration of its 25th anniversary. The spectacular work of art took several months’ collaboration among various divisions of Dragonair to realise from design tender to completed image.

Design Concepts

Dragon – the icon of Dragonair
A resplendent creature – a 36.15-metre golden dragon was emblazoned across the length of Dragonair’s 25th anniversary aircraft. The outline of the dragon in this special livery is the same as the one used for the 20th anniversary, emphasising Dragonair is a growing airline and that, its story is ongoing.

Oriental look – Reflection of Dragonair’s Hong Kong heritage
Eastern element, the use of the colours red and gold, both extremely auspicious in Chinese culture, as well as the Chinese calligraphy were emblazoned on the body of this special aircraft. The golden dragon provides a sheer of brilliance, illuminating and boosting energy that signifies the strength, optimism and confidence that Dragonair holds for the future.

Service– an important aspect
The tagline of Dragonair’s 25th anniversary, “Serving you for 25 years” was painted on the aircraft in both English and Chinese to reflect Dragonair’s dedication and continuous commitment in achieving service excellence.

Logos
Aside from the Dragonair and Swire logos and the new Brand Hong Kong logo were incorporated in the design of the 25th anniversary livery as Dragonair truly represents one of Hong Kong’s successful brands. This livery is Dragonair’s first aircraft to bear the newly designed Brand Hong Kong logo.

Use of Chromate-free paint
In view of environmental concerns, chromate-free paint was used on this special aircraft. Chromium is a heavy metal that can cause a lot of damage to the environment.
