Dragonair has responded quickly to help those affected by natural disasters by participating in fundraising campaigns launched by the Cathay Pacific Group. Such campaigns have included inflight fundraising initiatives and staff fundraising campaigns where the monies raised are matched by the Group.
In addition to cash donations, the airline has given free support for cargo shipments, excess baggage and ticket sponsorship to help various local and overseas charities send relief supplies and rescue teams to affected areas. Major relief efforts to which Dragonair has contributed in recent years include:
2015 Nepal earthquake
2013 Philippines typhoon and Sichuan earthquake
2011 Japan, Yunnan, New Zealand earthquakes and Thailand flooding
2010 Qinghai earthquake, Pakistan flooding and Gansu mudslide
Dragonair also supports a range of community initiatives and charitable causes through various types of in-kind sponsorship, including air tickets.
