Your passport needs to be valid during your travel period. Many countries additionally require that the passport is valid for 3 or 6 months beyond the end of your trip. Processing times for passports vary, and it could take six weeks or longer. Many countries, however, do offer fast-track applications.
You may need a visa for every country you enter, depending on your nationality and the purpose of your trip. Even if you are only changing flights at a country, you may need a visa. Your visas will be checked when you board a flight and when you arrive at your destination.
